A Survival Workbook for African-American Males

The Dare To Be King (DTBK) Curriculum provides community leaders, educators and youth service providers with a model designed to address three main areas in Black male development: anger, decision-making and impulse control. The curriculum is based on hundreds of hours of observation of young males in schools and other environments as well as countless discussions with young males of color and their parents.
The curriculum offers 52 weeks of programming designed to teach, coach and train the next generation of boys of color. DTBK expands the use of life and survival skills training to include a variety of activities designed to engage young males. From using the highly popular HBO Series “The Wire” to exploring cases like Trayvon Martin and Oscar Grant III, the curriculum guides young males into conversations and activities that are directly connected to their survival.
